Question:
Are you an avatar critic?

We all have our own avatar which makes us all creatively different from one another. Not one person has the same picture as the next and this triggered a random question in my mind...

Do you ever judge anyone in R&P based on their avatar?

Of course the most important aspect to this section is answering interesting music related questions but aside from that, do you ever pick which question you're going to answer next by which avatar appeals to you the most?

How about this, have you ever formed an assumption (accurate or inaccurate) of what a certain person might be like in any aspect, strictly based on their avatar?

And to make this an official music question:

What are some songs that talk about pictures?

Rckets

Maybe not a critic per se, but I love avatar watching as much as anyone. They all offer a unique glimpse into our personalities and interests. What I find really amazing is the similarities between those that have the cartoony avatars with their actual pictures, it's truly uncanny in several cases. Only a small few I've seen had real offensive avatars and they got deleted ages ago. Anyone with a dog avatar automatically gets a thumbs up or a star. Also, anyone that gives me a good laugh. R&S seems to have taken the avatar to high art form.

So, THAT explains it, that’s freaking hilarious!! I had noticed a while ago that you didn’t answer them. Oh, damn I’m LMFAO right now so the people at work think I’m nuts. “Old Slimy Guy w/ a Beard” might have to be used as a username for a day. Good thing the Refugee board set you straight. :)

P.wall - That's all part of being mystical. Plus, I clean up at the sportsbook, take Chicago over Washington tonight!

What are some songs that talk about pictures? The song "Photograph" by Nickle Back

I don't really critique peoples' avatars, but I always notice them, and I like some more than others. When I first came here, I had the cartoon avatar that you can make for yourself on Yahoo. But I changed it because it looked like 3 or 4 other people's avatar. For a short while it was Scrat from "Ice Age" because I think he's hilarious. But I ultimately went with Patrick Bateman from "American Psycho." I'm not sure why other than I just thought it made a sharp-looking avatar...maybe it's the suit. I think Mike's avatar with the Joker and Harley Quinn is cool. Silver also has an eye-grabber. I think the only avatar that could bother me would be one that offers some sorta political statement. I don't know why, it's just annoying to me.

Haha yeah, I'm guilty of that too! I totally associate people with thier avatars, even if it is an inanimate object lol. I haven't met anyone on here but I'm pretty sure what I think most of them look like is completely wrong and hillarious. I don't ever choose who to answer by avatars. BTW, I'm not really a dog in a Halloween costume, I used to have a picture of myself, but I got a few creepy emails so I decided to go with my dog, Freckles.

Off the top of my head "Picture" by Filter...which I kinda hate but it works.

edit: omg how could I forget Lady Picture Show?

I don't judge anyone by their avatar. Most are unique, I don't switch mine up too often. I hope nobody judges me for mine. The person in my avatar is a porn star.

The avatar I like the most...probably Darth's. I put my face up to the computer to see what it is, but I think they're cool.

I have formed an assumption over some one with their avatar. Usually involving a picture of Gerard Way with blood dripping from his mouth or something. I can tell the person has already found their savior.

Good songs that talk about pictures...nothing much comes to mind. A song by The Get Up Kids "Out of Reach"

long way from home,

lost by an echo, i'd never have known

i've got pictures to prove i was there,

but you don't care

here's me overseas, across a pond by the Dover peaks

i've smuggled myself into new nationalities, you think you'd be proud of me

there's room to believe, out of sight, out of mind, out of reach

start over is no way to begin

Well, considering I change my avatar like a pair of socks, I don't judge anyone by their avatar...unless of course it has something to do with MCR. I'm honest, stone me. Anyway, I don't answer based on avatar. I skim through the all the questions and answer the one's I feel I'm able to. I too was actually scared of rckets at first.

I admit ~ a cool avatar will catch my eye and be generally more memorable to me ~ but influence my opinion of someone.... maybe a little, but generally in a positive direction.

Silver's is way cool, Sarah the pink balloon lady ~ very memorable... lots more.

And like HedZy, Tesla, Jake(!) and Sara=], I was intimidated by rckets, too ~ LOL!!! More because he 'heads' the column, tho ~ not just the Mad Monk avatar ~ rckets, did you have any idea?! LOL

LOL Persephone!! Yes, the 'real' me got a haircut :-D

Nothing necessarily negative. Sometimes I do thing kings like " Hey! Shades of Grey got a hair cut! " LOL!!! I did wonder if she had gotten one and changed her avatar because of it.

Mostly the Avatars really amuse me. There is one person who has Donkey from Shrek. I love that one. I loved Smiley's George Hamilton one too. I can't believe you though good old Rasputin was creepy. Must be the beard.... LOL!!!

Well, as you can see, my avatars are usually of pictures that are music related. Right now I have the albumn "Naturnal Poisoning" by Xasthur, a black metal band. Recently I had a picture of the band Shadows Fall as my avatar. I guess I really don't need to name any songs that really express my avatar. Just look into the albumn "Naturnal Poisoning" in case you are wondering what the band Xasthur sounds like.

I don't really judge people by their pictures. I usually don't even pay attention until after I've answered the question. I would hope no one judges mine, considering it's me. If you don't like it, I don't want to know. haha

That's funny, because I didn't want to answer any of Rckts questions either. Not because I thought he was an old slimy guy, but because I was intimidated by the knowledge he obviously has.

Even though I despise it, Photograph by Nickelback...my mind went blank.

I've never judged anyone based on their avatar, but I have liked some people's so much that I've followed their questions ~ and some of those people have even become my contacts! **

I choose which questions to answer based on the question title.

I've never formed assumptions based on avatars, but sometimes do based on a person's taste in music.

** = Rckets is one of those people ~ to my mind, anyone using a TON cover is someone I may wish to know!

Lol, Great question TeslaGirl!

I don't think I judge people by their avatars.. that would be a little shallow, don't you think? lol. However they do help me locate my contact's questions much faster.

I do have a few favorite avatars (the purple balloon is definitely one of them, so is the fly by night album cover).

To answer your question : Pictures of You - The Cure

~One last thing : I have to admit that when I first came to R&P, i was quite freaked out by Rasputin as well.. He scared me for quite a while, but then I got used to him. :)

I don't judge avatars by the picture but you can judge some things by what is under the picture. Like mine and yours.

Coincidentally, do you like my new avatar?

nobody really knows anybody by they're avatar

however, i see so many of the yahoo cartoon avatars that i think it is what the person really looks like
