a lovely question about a song written by a legend and a perfect example of a man dedicating his life humanitarianism, long before it was "fashionable". It is a melodic and lyrical gem that continues to touch the hearts of new generations, not yet born at the time of the songs release. The late Mr. Chapin's tireless work on behalf of those starving right here in America was heartfelt and inspiring.

I love many songs by Harry - his Greatest Stories Live is one of the best live albums I've ever heard.

Cats In The Cradle has helped me win karaoke contests as well as ground me to be a part of my son's growth. Harry's brother, Tom, continues to make children's albums and sing this song in concert to our young. We can only hope for the better this way.

RIP Harry

I used to be huge into Harry Chapin I have the multiple CD greatest hits with book of his life story somewhere at home still. I really need to pull that out again.(Story of a Life it's called) As for Cats in the Cradle, I liked it well enough but it was no where near my favorite of his... I tend to shy away from mega hits and tend to like obscure stuff more. That could be why... but my favorites by him...1. Any old kinda day (I love this song, I miss it...time to pull out the CDs) 2. Circle 3. The 'Taxi' saga 4. Better Place to be 5. Sunday Morning Sunshine 6. 30,000 pounds of banannas 7. Dance Band on the Titanic 8. I wanna Learn a Love song 9. Always Seventeen 10. W*O*L*D

A very great classic, I can relate to this song some what as I went well over 20 some years before I seen my son's and that was just three summers ago. Now we have a great relationship. And I believe Harry is one of the most underrated artist around. His writing skills are right up their with Jim Croce, Dylan, Donovan, Neil Young and a few more. I really really love this song and the song called Taxi.

take care

I thought Cat's In The Cradle was Cat Stevens. Haha. It's one of my mom's favorite songs, so I can't believe I was wrong. When Love And Hate Collide- Def Leppard is my favorite sad tune. It's pretty bittersweet.

Yes, I do a lot. It always reminds me of "The Giving Tree" for some reason.
