Question:
R&P: Journey's new singer, Yay or Nay?

The new singer's name is Arnel Pineda, from the Phillipenes. If you hadn't already heard, they found him on YouTube, from his band The Zoo. I dig the new album they put out, and he does covers of old Journey songs well. I saw them in concert in September and I thought they were great.

What do you think?

Wow. I love Journey. But I didn't listen to the new stuff Magic. A lot of what I love about them is tied up in memories. As for the 'new guy'?

None too shabby. Watching your 'Open Arms' link, I was impressed. It isn't Steve Perry, but hey... time marches on. I thought he was good.

Watching the 'Believin' link... it was a little more obvious that he was having a bit of trouble stretching to that high note. But that's what made Perry special. None the less, I think the new guy is quite respectable and maybe they could just learn to work within his vocal range.

But there was certainly nothing to be ashamed of.

I am a Journey fan for 24 or so years now.

I Love Steve Perry I have FOR YEARS. My sister and step parents took me to see them live when I was a toddler or young boy perhaps Brian Adams opened. We barely made purchase of tickets for the 3rd night most shows in all city's on that tour all had 3 nights each city and all sold out shows. They Were Awesome. This was the Frontiers tour

Arnel Pineda is a perfect replacement for Perry he has an awesome voice. Many have been saying that Journey should let Steve do the Studio albums and have Pineda tour seeing that's why Steve left his voice can no longer handle the touring. I don't think that would be fair at all one of the most important things to the artist is being on the records and THE RECORD of their performance to go through out time.

Hes great I favor Perry of course both for talent and Sentimental value but nevertheless Arnel is awesome

I'm not a big Journey fan, but Arnel does a good job and seems like he'll be a good replacement for Perry.

He rules.

Usually after the long time lead singer leaves, the band is most likely never going to be the same, but that's not the case here. I have not heard one person say they disliked Arnel.

Even he knows he'll never be Steve Perry, but I still like him a lot. He sounds a lot like Steve and I watched an interview on Sunday Morning last year. He cried because he missed his girlfriend and baby. That made me like him even more. I just wanted to pick him up and give him a big hug.

Yay!

He sounds a lot like Steve Perry, that much is true.

I also like how Boston found their new lead singer on a cover on a MySpace page. He worked at Home Depot haha.

I was all ready to rage but I actually really liked him. He sounds enough like Steve Perry that his voice works with the songs, but you can tell it isn't the same guy singing- that's good, because you don't want it to look like they're pretending everything is the same.

There is no denying the guy can nail those parts, but, its just another clone of Steve Perry. Not to much originality going on there.

I have always hated Journey. Too me they are classic boring crap, radio rock. always have been and always will be.

And thanks in advance for the thumbs down!!!!
