My tastes are listed:
Psych: I like Cream, Hendrix, Velvet Underground [their earlier stuff like the Banana album.
Prog: Yes, Rick Wakeman, Pink Floyd, Secret Machines, Genesis, Uriah Heep. [Do the Who count as prog? not sure...]

Can't go wrong with the big 2 legends, that are still just as famous and they are "Pink Floyd" & "Rush"

If you like early Genesis then you may like Steve Hackett's solo stuff. Most of the best older stuff has already been namechecked, but for modern prog that's accessible and not too heavy, try Frost* (the album Million Town), or Pure Reason Revolution (the album The Dark Third)

You might also like Syd Barret's solo stuff - he was the psychedelic influence of Pink Floyd

Asia were a popular prog-rock band, although not my sort of thing.

I'm surprised no-one's mentioned Led Zeppelin, some of their music - eg Dazed and Confused could be classed as psychedelic.

Also try Marillion and Hawkwind.

For the psych stuff you should check out the Nuggets box sets. The first is american psyche, second ones the brit stuff. Pretty much a comprehensive overview of psychedelic and sixties garage bands.
