Apples and oranges, really. (And yes, I realize I'll probably be one of many people to use that cliché to answer this question.) There are some obvious similarities, it seems to me: both have had lengthy careers, have been extremely influential, made the transition from primarily playing acoustic guitar to primarily electric, and have singing voices that are an acquired taste at best. By default though, I guess I'd have to go with Neil Young. Not that I don't love Dylan's stuff; he has plenty of great songs, including but by no means limited to "One More Cup of Coffee", "Lay Lady Lay", and "Mr Jones". Having said that, Neil Young simply has more songs that I know and love, not to mention more songs that are conducive to rocking out, when the mood strikes: "When You Dance I Can Really Love", "My My, Hey Hey", "Hey Hey, My My", "Cowgirl in the Sand", etc.

Dylan might have had more of an effect "culturally" then Neil Young; but when it comes down to musical and artistic talent, Neil Young takes this one. Dylan doesn't have the span of decades quality wise, that Neil Young has had throughout the course of time.

I have a lot of time for Neil Young, yet the fact that I cannot remember the last time I played any of his stuff probably gives the game away.

Bob Dylan by quite a long way.

Neil Young is my favourite artist so I'd have to say him.

I love Bob's music too but nobody beats Neil Young in my opinion.

Neil Young, to me, is a more well-rounded Bob Dylan. I love Bob to death but Neil will win in this one for me.

My opinion is that Neil Young is a better perfomer/musician, but Bob Dylan is one of the greatest lyrical geniuses of our day.

Bob Dylan is the better artist and the one I personally prefer, with no disrespect intended at all toward Mr. Young, who is amazing in his own right.

Neil Young has had better songs and covered more ground musically over the long haul. Dylan deserves high praise, but I lost interest in his output after the mid-70's.

Dylan and Dylan

Young is good... but Dylan changed music forever. 400 years from now, he will be remembered in the way that we now remember Shakespeare.

Bob Dylan all the wayy!

Influencing hundreds and speaking words that were quick and true... he was a folk rock God!

Neil Young, both ways.

Dylan's chief strength is his writing. He writes songs that any thumb fingered idiot can play in a bar. Young's songs are rarely played well when covered.
