Coldplay or Evanescence: Which Do You Prefer?

Question

Thought I'd ask a Modern Bands question for a change, which is pretty difficult for Me to do considering the fact that 99% are talentless dreck. However Coldplay and Evanescence are two of the very few I like
Of the two I prefer Coldplay which is My favorite modern band.
They have several great songs including "Clocks" and "Talk"
But which do You prefer? and why?

I personally like or got into Evanescence (I guess they were lumped into the group of "other" modern rock bands...) but I love Coldplay. Chris Martin has a lovely voice and they make sych lovely mellow songs. Parachutes and A Rush of Blood to the Head were two of my favorite albums and I still listen to them on a regular basis. I'm not such a fan of X&Y though.

Out of those two, i prefer Coldplay. I really cant find anything good to say about Evanescence however. Might i recommend The Dresdan Dolls instead, female vocalist/pianist also. I feel the lyrics are a lot cleverer and they have a better collection of songs. Coldplay for "Clocks"

-- This is where my ignorance shows -- I've followed in-detail, the evolution of both popular and underground music, from mid-60s - 1994 (after The Downward Spiral - I really didn't think there was anything MORE that could be done to progress music; except, maybe Radiohead)

- So, I really know very little about music after '94, except what is played on Radio.

- "Clocks" is the only Coldplay song I am familiar with; and I think it is quite exceptional. Unfortunately, I'm not sure if I've heard an Evenescence track :-(

IF - someone could SUGGEST AN EVENESCENSE CD -- I will buy it :-) Thanks!

I like Coldplay far more than Evanescence. I only like Evanescence's first album, Fallen. Coldplay I love. They are one of my favorite. My favorite song is "The Scientist" and is actually my favorite song within any band that I have ever listened to. Coldplay's sound is less haunting than Evanescence, and it has more variety. I tend to get bored of Amy Lee's voice.

Evanescence! I'm very honored that you enjoy Evanescence and consider them not part of the talentless dreck! What are your favorite Evanescence songs? I love ALL of them, but some I love way more than others! My favorites switch from time to time.



I'll have to check out those Coldplay songs. I never listened to them.

Yes both are pretty good I suppose. Coldplay really seems to help unplug my sinuses, and I use it whenever I catch a cold...much better than Tylenol, or any other cold remedy on the market for that matter.

Evanescence makes my house smell nice, and I find that if I pour a little into my washing machine during mid-cycle, my clothes have that nice springtime freshness that we all adore.

Both are great products!

I don't know much about Coldplay to be honest.

I like the song "Trouble" but apart from that I've never paid much attention to their work.



I know a bit more of Evanescence's work, I like some of their songs and I'm not so fond of others.

"Lithium" is my favourite, it's a stunning song.

EVANESCENCE I love Amy Lee's voice. I have cried listening to her sing. Many of her songs have meaning in My life. Definitely Evanescence!



PS I own Fallen and Open Door. I think they have an earlier CD but I haven't heard that one. I personally like every song on the Fallen CD. My favorite would be "My Immortal" because it called to a very emotional time in my life. It was a personal song for me.

My favorite song on Open Door is "Lacrymosa"

simply because it's a beautiful song and I like the instrumentals

I'm actually a fan of both bands, but I'd say that I'm more of an Evanescene fan, just because I'm more into that genre of music. Although "Clocks" is one song that I absolutely love, "Missing" by Evanescene is one of my all time favorite songs.

in my opinion, i prefer songs to bands. if people ask me what music i like, i tell them songs by artists.... so i cant say which is better... but i do like more coldplay songs then evanescence. - cheers

I like Coldplay the most. Chris Martin is a genius. I prefer his voice over Amy Lee's. Coldplay is more innovative and talented.

The piano, vocals, and lyrics do it for me ~ I particularly like 'Call Me When You're Sober'.



I just find Coldplay to dreary and mundane.
