Bands who deserve to be in there aren't even getting nominated, where as rap, and hell, even madonna get nominated and seriously considered.



Black Sabbath only got in in '06. They invented metal. Kind of says something.

Its all about white guilt. Don't catch it!!!! I agree, but you have to admit, rock-n-roll came from a blending of black and white music styles. Chuck Berry and Elvis brought out the same music and songs. There should be a rap hall, but as of right now, there isn't. Suck it up!!

The funny thing about the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is that they'll let almost anyone in, including pop acts and, now, rap acts.



I, personally, would love to see the classic rock band, Badfinger, inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame but I have a feeling that that'll never happened!

Well the R&RHofF is in bed with Rolling Stone Magazine in the sense of Jann Wenner being in bed with himself (what a picture) since he co-founded that magazine and is on the board of the R&RHofF. I lost interest when the museum was built in Cleveland. If Cleveland is so great, why are the ceremonies held in New York? Until Cheap Trick is inducted I have no use for them!!! Yahoo would be a great fit!!

The Rock and Roll hall of Fame accepted hip hop in 2007 when Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five were inducted.

And, yes, there is a Hip-Hop Hall Of Fame



I think Run DMC were great and deserve it alot more Madonna did.

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is a joke. Jann Werner and his cronies control who gets nominated and, ultimately, inducted (the Dave Clark Five got more votes than Grandmaster Flash two years ago but Grandmaster Flash was inducted). That's why acts with long, commercially successful careers (e.g., Linda Ronstadt, Kiss, Steve Miller, Moody Blues) have never been NOMINATED, let alone inducted, while people like Madonna are already in.



I will say, however, that the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame does rightfully acknowledge the other genres of music that have influenced rock and roll. That's why blues artists like Robert Johnson, gospel artists like Mahalia Jackson, and country artists like Hank Williams are inducted as "early influences."

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame has always accepted genres others than rock. James Brown, Ray Charles and Sam Cooke were all inducted the first year, two years before The Beatles. People only complain about Madonna, Grandmaster Flash, and Run-D.M.C. because they think rap and pop aren't valid, because they won't think for themselves and would rather arbitrarily choose what is or is not good music based on cultural constructs rather than actual music.



The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is arbitrary, and it isn't "official" in any way. Is it a particularly awful list? No. Will it satisfy everybody? Of course not. They should change their name to The Pop Music Hall of Fame and people should stop their complaining.



Gordon C: Blues music is not a form of rock. If anything, rock is a form of the blues, or at least early rock is. If you're going to say stupid things, at least be correct. Rap is a perfectly valid genre.

I know, I went to the R&RHF a few months back. It was weak. Going into it I was, "yeah this is going to be pretty cool." It was not. Very lame.
