ok. I were drumming for roughly 2 or 3 years and that i have used distinct one in each of a form pedals for double bass and use distinct Heel-Toe so i'd both say a DW,Pearl,or likely if funds isn't a worry a cobra metallic kick pedal.

Heel toe is about efficiency.

Think about a double-stroke... the same principle is in play here. You let the stick bounce against the drum head and you get 2 drum hits for the price of one (but it didn't cost you 2x in energy).

Using heel toe will allow you to get very high speeds with double bass (while not tiring your legs nearly as much).

Some drummers view using heel-toe as a crutch, but in my opinion I look for utility. If something works and provides better results (for whatever you are trying to accomplish), why not use it?

Here is a video teaching you how to use it.

Once you start using it, I recommend get the double bass drum play along for the metal section at minusdrums.com. It is about 10 minutes long and increases the BPM every minute or so so that you can practice getting faster.
