The only one I see in the 08 class I think is really deserving of the honor is John Mellencamp. Look at some of the others. Madonna? Really? Why on Earth is she more Rock and Roll than the others I have listed?

How on earth do you induct the likes of REM, Madonna, Prince, etc before Styx, Chicago, Yes, Emerson Lake & Palmer, Rush, Moody Blues, Alice Cooper, Steve Miller, etc.? I have absolutely NO respect for the HOF



Though Kool & The Gang aren't exactly rock, how in the world does a rap group (Grand Master Flash) get inducted first??



It gets more and more obvious every year that Ozzy wasn't lying when he called the HOF a joke. Let's face it he is right it nothing more than a joke. At the rate the HOF is going Hottie and the Blowfish will be inducted before Rush, Yes, etc. and that is an absolute crime.

i see a lot of people complaining about the rock and roll hall of fame, what you need to realize is that it's pointless to argue because this is how the rock and roll hall has been since its inauguration, it's not about the contributions of bands to rock and roll, it's about the interests of the voters and the hall itself...what about last year with the voting controversy involving the dave clark five apparently getting mroe votes than grandmaster flash and the furious five, but the latter group getting in supposedly because of the "need" for a rap act? it's ridiculous and it's insane...i mean look at the great bands you mentioned that haven't yet been inducted, while in the meantime someone like madonna is gonna get in over REAL rock artists

Has to do with Seymour Stein. A lot of Sire artists have been inducted before a lot of others.



Leonard Cohen isn't even close to being rock, but he has written a lot of songs covered by others, so you can dispute valid reasons why he'd be there as much as why Joni Mitchell was inducted.



Pretty much every band that has been labelled "prog rock" has been shut out... Peter Gabriel solo or with Genesis should've been in long ago. Critically acclaimed albums/CDs, music video pioneer, unforgettable live shows, won countless awards, has worked with the best musicians in the world, was into social awareness before a lot of people, and yet I think because of his connection to Genesis has kept him out of the running. I think they really hate Phil Collins THAT much.



It has to do with Jann Wenner and Jon Landau's decisions more than anything.

but Rock'n'roll? Definitely not.



And is Leonard Cohen rock'n'roll in any way?

The only song by him that I know is Hallelujah.

Thats a good song, but it's definitely not rock.





I think that Freddie Mercury needs to be inducted. Yeah, Queen is in there, but what about Freddie on his own? How many millions of people has he influenced? He's a legend. He needs to be in there.
