Question:
R&P's Favorite Band with a LOT of albums?

Sometimes, when I listen to new music, I find a song I really like, and I'm like, "Whoa! I need to get started on this greatness!"
But then, I go look them up... and I realize that they have a TON of albums... and I'm just a little bit overwhelmed.
It's alittle annoying at first because I don't know where to start, but later on it's awesome because there's so much for me to explore, and it's all so good. (Well, that doesn't always happen with every band with a lot of albums...)
But back to the question!

What's your favorite band with a seemingly ton of albums? p.s. Tell us how many there are!
BQ: What's your favorite album out of the many?
BBQ(yum): What's your opinion on bands with "too many" albums?
BBBQ: Name all of the albums that the band has.

Enjoy, and try not to be overwhelmed!

I will go with The Rolling Stones they have 29 studio albums, and many are great ones. If we were talking about solo artists it would be Bob Dylan without question he has 34 albums, but since it's bands I will go with the Rolling Stones. The Beatles had 12 albums which is quite a lot,but they don't have a shed load like the Stones.

BA:Sticky Fingers

BBA:I think most bands with loads of albums tend to be great bands, not always true but on most occasions they are. I think it shows they have staying power.

BBBQ: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Rolling_Stones_discography here is a link, sorry I am in a lazy mood today lol.

I started listening to Tom Waits in 2003/04 (I was 16/17.) Talk about overwhelming. Waits has like 20 albums I believe. It was very hard to start off, but it got easier after awhile. I found the best thing to do was hit up a local record store and purchase 3 of the more prominent albums and pop them in while driving, hanging out in my bedroom, drinking especially.

BQ: 'Rain Dogs' probably.

BBQ (yum) (2): When I think of bands having too many albums I'm reminded of Iron Maiden. Gets watered down and boring. I can only hear the same crap so many times. Fortunately, an artist like Tom Waits is everchanging.

BBBQ: Not going to pretend like I can list every album. So I'll go wikistyle.

The Heart of Saturday Night

Nighthawks at the Diner

Small Change Foreign Affairs

Heartattack and Vine

One from the Heart

Swordfishtrombones

Rain Dogs

Frank's Wild Years

Big Time

AFI -- 8 studio albums. 3 (other)

Bonus Q: Black Sails In the Sunset, Shut Your Mouth and Open Your Eyes, The Art of Drowning, Sing the Sorrow, Decemberunderground

Bonus Q2: It's fine. A lot of albums are fine, but the music should come naturally and not have too much music at once. You shouldn't shove your music down people's throats and be overwhelming. Like for bands that have been together 20 years and if they have 10 albums that's fine. And AFI seems to have a decent time frame between each album. And the earlier albums being 1 year apart are okay because those are some other their best albums (all of them are amazing though) but most of those are just 2-3 minute little songs. In the 2000's you can see they took more time on their material. And gave it more thought as they progressed with their musicianship.

Bonus Q3:

Answer That and Stay Fashionable (1995)

Very Proud of Ya (1996)

Shut Your Mouth and Open Your Eyes (1997)

A Fire Inside (1998)

All Hallows E.P. (1999)

Black Sails in the Sunset (1999)

The Art of Drowning (2000)

Sing the Sorrow (2003)

Decemberunderground (2006)

Crash Love (2009)

They also have a live dvd and live cd "I Heard a Voice" (2007)

Alice Cooper has 25 studio albums with his band and solo career! It is pretty overwhelming, I normally try to find a list of the 20 or so best ones then work on getting the full albums

BQ- From the Inside. Well, for pure musical content alone I'd pick Trash (Poison is my favourote Alice song) but I love the theme for From the Insode. It was written when he was in rehab for alcoholsim and each song is about the facility or the story of one of the other patients there. It's a fascinating album. Alice has loads of concept albums and they each tell a story within the song, the album and his entire discography.

BBQ (lol @ yum!) - Depends on the quality. Some bands can rip out great album after great album but sometimes they just get worse and worse and you end up feeling sorry for them

BBBQ - Alice Cooper's? I couldn't name all 25 off the top of my head.

Neil Young has a lot of albums.

1: After the Goldrush.

2: As long as they are still making good albums, it's cool. Not that they need my approval. But see ACDC for an example of a band that should have stopped a long time ago.

3: I'm only doing studio albums from his solo career.

Neil Young, Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere, After the Gold Rush, Harvest, On the Beach, Tonight's the Night, Zuma, American Stars 'N Bars, Comes a Time, Hawks & Doves, Re-ac-tor, Trans, Everybody's Rockin', Old Ways, Landing on Water, Life, This Note's for You, Eldorado, Freedom, Ragged Glory, Harvest Moon, Sleeps with Angels, Mirror Ball, Broken Arrow, Silver & Gold, Are You Passionate?, Greendale, Prairie Wind, Living with War, Chrome Dreams II, Fork in the Road, Le Noise.
