I'm no drummer nor a Beatle fanboy, but I've read that Ringo though outclassed nowdays & even in the following decades after the Beatles was instrumental in creating/popularising new styles of drum playing.

John Frusciante the ex guitarist of RHCP is a huge fan of Ringo, On one of his solo albums back when he was addicted to drugs he sent out a call for musicians to join him on his solo album but not to turn up if they didn't recognise the genius of Ringos playing.........he seems to be a drummer that isn't looked at in his own time, instead he is compared to Keith Moon & other greats.

Too many people have opinions about Ringo without any knowledge of drummimg themselves or without having really listened to him. Ringo was and still is a very inovative and influential drummer with a unique style. I would say he was the first true real 'rock' drummer of note. The drummers on the rock'n'roll records before the Beatles were mainly jazz or big band swing drummers cashing in on the new fad that was rock'n'roll.

There's too much confusion out there with "Greatest of All Time" lists. People always confuse that word with "Best of All Time" or "Most Skilled of All TIme". If they were talking about the "best", then they would say "best" and not "greatest". Greatest is a special word used for the person that is the most acknowledged and remembered by majority of people in history for what they do. It doesn't mean they were best because there could always be someone who never made it to fame who was better. There could be someone in their room right now playing drums that is better than those two guys you mentioned who nobody knows about. Greatest means of the most significance in history.

he's a techniques from being between the final, inspite of the undeniable fact that it particularly is variety of stupid to declare maximum amature drummers are extra advantageous. Ringo does not have have been given to have been he's as we talk if he replaced into not stable. definite his song could be exciting. yet nonetheless not one in each of my favs. take care dave

No way. Just because he was the drummer for what is widely considered the best band ever, it does not mean that he was the best drummer ever. He certainly wasn't bad, but I can name dozens that are better than he ever was, including several from the Beatles era (John Bonham, Mitch Mitchell, Scott Asheton)

Most people who say Ringo Starr was bad at drumming can't tell the difference between a snare drum and a hi-tom.
