I just bought a guitar with an autograph on it....

It's shipping right now and won't be here for a couple of days, so I thought I'd look into preserving autographs....

It's a silver sharpie signature on a black pickguard....

Any help, advice, or personal experiences are appreciated!!!!

Thanks!!!!

just hang it on a stand and not in a case so you can show it off =P. Play on it like a regular guitar, and be careful who you allow to play on it. just dont go crazy when you play with a pick because you can scratch the pick guard and might do the same to the autograph.

If you want to play the guitar, I'd remove the pickguard if possible and store it separately. This is actually pretty standard practice.

If it's an acoustic guitar, I'd be wary of removing the pickguard, but for electrics with screw-on pickguards, you'll be fine.

If you don't touch it at all, it should be fine. If you are actually going to use the guitar, I would suggest taking off that pickguard and using another one haha.

Plenty of clear varnish will do the trick and keep recoating it every so often.

See if you can get it cased in glass, this way it won't rub on anything.
