One, two, three o'clock, four o'clock, rock,
Five, six, seven o'clock, eight o'clock, rock,
Nine, ten, eleven o'clock, twelve o'clock, rock,
We're gonna rock around the clock tonight.

Put your glad rags on and join me, hon,
We'll have some fun when the clock strikes one,
We're gonna rock around the clock tonight,
We're gonna rock, rock, rock, 'til broad daylight.
We're gonna rock, gonna rock, around the clock tonight.

When the clock strikes two, three and four,
If the band slows down we'll yell for more,
We're gonna rock around the clock tonight,
We're gonna rock, rock, rock, 'til broad daylight.
We're gonna rock, gonna rock, around the clock tonight.

When the chimes ring five, six and seven,
We'll be right in seventh heaven.
We're gonna rock around the clock tonight,
We're gonna rock, rock, rock, 'til broad daylight.
We're gonna rock, gonna rock, around the clock tonight.

When it's eight, nine, ten, eleven too,
I'll be goin' strong and so will you.
We're gonna rock around the clock tonight,
We're gonna rock, rock, rock, 'til broad daylight.
We're gonna rock, gonna rock, around the clock tonight.

When the clock strikes twelve, we'll cool off then,
Start a rockin' round the clock again.
We're gonna rock around the clock tonight,
We're gonna rock, rock, rock, 'til broad daylight.
We're gonna rock, gonna rock, around the clock tonight.

I'm not being funny or anything, but the lyrics to this are pretty straightforward. The meaning is obvious, surely? If this is a question you've been set by school or somewhere, it's stupid asking other people to answer it for you 'cause you aren't using your brain, just copying stuff from one place to another. Plus, how do you know the answers are right? Of course, if you're just really confused by the words to Rock Around The Clock, Im sorry. Not for saying what I've said but because if you're confused by this, the world will be a challenging place for you in general.

NONE of the other answers are true. In the 50's, the phrase "rock and roll" was slang term for having sex. In other songs, such as Eddie Cochran's "Twenty Flight Rock" (if you read the lyrics or listen to it) he says at the end of the verses: "I'm too tired to rock"... Do you think he meant "dancing" or "partying"?? No.

Rock and roll was created for white people, the idea behind rock and roll was the censoring of the extremely sexual rhythm and blues songs that were making a lot of money in the black community. White people wanted to make more money so they created this conversation-music-business where already established white singers would cover and reword (censor) some of the Rhythm and blues songs previously created by colored people. rock and roll is a combination of country and rhythm and blues, and it indeed is a sexual term, but the phrase was so new at the time that people didn't catch on to it until rock and roll was already a thing. also, if you pay attention to all the white rock and rollers in the 50's, they did not really create anything, it was black artist like chuck berry, fats domino, little Richard, etc. who technically created rock and roll. take Elvis for example- did not write his own music, did not play lead guitar, covered just about every song that was already a hit in the black community. so most was the music you think Elvis is famous for was created by a black person, that they stole and paid off people to keep their mouth shut. rock around the clock mean they are going to have sex all day to people who knew the true meaning of rock and roll, but for the creator of the song he didn't know what rock and roll meant just like most of you on here and he wrote the song with the intention of rock and roll meaning to dancing.
